Since creating our own instagram account for our beautiful new Prince Edward County Airbnb -- Le Bon Vivant (LBV) -- the number 1 thing that followers are wanting to hear is more of the thought, intent, logic that went into the design decisions of LBV.
The #1 factor that went into designing LBV: We wanted to make sure that LBV was the epitome of beauty-meets-functionality.
What we mean by this... It's one thing to choose and piece together designs that LOOK beautiful. But we wanted to go beyond this. We made every choice with an eye to: Does this make sense for the guest's experience? Will it be easy to use? Does its placement make sense? Will they know how to use it? Do they have everything they need in order to use it?

One example: Putting in an infrared heated yoga and spin studio, we knew that people would be wanting cold, cold water. And who wants to have to run between floors to do that? Hence, why we:
(a) Put in a wet bar (with RO filtered tap and ice maker) in the lower floor immediately backing onto the yoga / spin studio to easily quench that mid- or post-workout thirst, and (b) Put a Japanese soaker tub in the lower level bathroom - so that guests who want to finish off their workout with a cold plunge can easily do so. Whether you already love hot-cold circuits or want to try one for the very first time, we made it super easy to do one at LBV!
Another example: Choosing (and budgeting accordingly for) mattresses and bedding that are conducive to a guest's BEST night of sleep. We incorporated Avocado Green, Obasan, and lightweight duvets (knowing that a cooler body temperature is optimal for the BEST sleep). So yes, we decided to go against convention of big, fluffy bedding in favour of lightweight, cooling bedding instead!
The second factor that went into designing LBV: We wanted to reflect responsible design.
What we mean by this one... We've been visiting the County (Prince Edward County) for years, well before it had become a known tourist destination. We were always drawn to the properties immersed in acres of privacy among wild fields, native grasses, lavender, etc. So when designing LBV, we didn't want to feel like two city people coming in and imposing on the County. Instead, we wanted to create a beautiful airbnb that preserved the nature around it and minimized our impact on it. More detail in our recent instagram post !

At LBV, nature truly is part of the experience. Anyone who's been in our sauna can attest to that!
And how we achieved responsible design was through "approachable sustainability". Of course, it would have been AMAZING to build in solar power and regenerative agriculture from the outset. But we knew that just wasn't in the cards in the near-term. Anyone who has been through a renovation will know why! ;) Again, our instagram post dives into a few (of the many) ways that we tackled sustainability at LBV.
So the TL/DR of this post: Does anyone still care about eco-friendly tourism? We do, and we hope others out there do too. If you've already booked LBV, take this as one more reason to feel excited and authentically GOOD about booking a stay here.
